Lost dog --sad dad August 26, 2008 My aunt gave this lifelike "breathing" dog to my father for his birthday. Dad has always loved dogs, and until he became ill and could no longer live in his home in the woods, he had many wonderful dogs. His health is very unstable now, and his toy dog gave him comfort and pleasure. Imagine our sorrow when this morning it was actually stolen from his room at the nursing home!! The staff checked all the other residents' rooms, thinking a confused patient might have wandered in and taken it. A housekeeper then reported that she had seen someone she did not recognize, assumed it was a guest or family member, walking out the door carrying this precious puppy and his bed. We are all so sad -- it was important to dad, and he doesn't understand what happened to his "little friend." People can be so thoughtless, so cruel...
Great present for the dog lover who can't have a live pet. April 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My mother was in the hospital and all she could talk about was missing her Dachshund. I found this on line and being a black and tan, the same color as her dog, I got it for her stay in the hospital. It turned out to be the talk of her floor. All the nurses had to come in and check on the "pup". It looks very realitic with his belly breathing ( an up and in motion). I would not advise giving this to young children. It is more to look at....not play with.
